2023 Heini’s Good Cheer (barrel aged old ale style) – This year’s release is the first-time using brandy barrels as well as bourbon barrels in the blend. Aged 16 months, this HGC has a gorgeous deep copper hue. Aromas of dark toffee, caramel, almond and a hint of licorice. Those notes carry into the flavor with candied orange peel, dark plum and cocoa. This is bittersweet for Roundabout as this is likely the last bottle release of our Heini’s Good Cheer. This labor of love has been very good to us winning Silver at the 2016 World Beer Cup, Silver at the 2017 Great American Beer Festival, and Silver at the 2018 World Beer Cup. HGC is named after a good friend of Steve’s. Heini (Heinrich) liked his helles , but he loved his Asbach. Steve met Heini forever ago when Steve was playing for the Landsberg Express. Heini let Steve stay in his caravan while he lived in Germany, and they became great friends. Some of you might remember one of our HGC releases featured a caravan on the label. Unfortunately, Heini never got a chance to try the HGC, but we always raise a glass in his honor, and we hope you do too.
